personal background
I always knew that sports would play a huge role in my life, I just never imagined that I would be able to travel around the world and make a career out of triathlon. I ran competitively Division 1 track and cross country at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. After College, I moved to Boston to pursue a Masters degree in Exercise Physiology from Northeastern University. I continued to focus on my running with the goal of qualifying for the Olympic Trials. After 2 knee surgeries and a year of frustration, I decided that my knees needed a break form the high mileage required to run a fast marathon. I went to Cape Cod to watch a friend do a sprint triathlon. It was exciting and I was intrigued. Looking for a new challenge, I decided that next year I would do my first triathlon. I dusted off my old schwin bike and; at the mockery of local triathletes who were all sporting expensive carbon fiber tri bikes, trained for my first triathlon. I had a blast at the race and was instantly hooked. I couldn't wait to do my next triathlon. I enjoyed the training and started seeing results. Two years later I decided life is short; it's now or never and turned Pro. The following year, my husband and I moved to VT to start our Business called On Track, a wellness facility offering personal training, physical therapy, massage therapy and accupuncture. As the business became established, I was able to cut back on my hours at On Track and focus more on my training. I train hard and I train a lot, but I also make time to give back to the sport though coaching, volunteer work and speaking to people old and young about the value of sport in our lives.
