At Rocket7, we take pride in being the only Certified Pedorthic facility in the cycling industry committed to building performance cycling shoes. Pedorthics (pronounced: ped-or-thiks) is defined as " the design, manufacture, modification, and fit of shoes and foot orthoses to help counter the effects of foot ailments". Our lightweight, low-profile cycling shoes are not only the highest performance shoes you can buy, but they are also offer uncompromised fit. Rocket7’s history is based on the specialized needs of performance athletes around the world, and in backgrounds that go far beyond the reaches of cycling. Rocket7’s state-of-the-art Pedorthics lab has made shoes for many World Champion and Olympic Athletes. Our staff and network of pedorthists earns professional Rocket7credentials through a stringent and demanding educational process. Pre-certification studies cover a wide range of topics such as anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, gait analysis, and pathology (understanding the diseases and ailments that affect the foot and ankle) provide a deep understanding of how feet work. Pedorthists are well educated in shoe construction and fit, in addition to the principles and intricacies of foot orthosis design and fabrication. They must understand how all of these things relate and interact with one another. Before sitting for their board exam, our pedorthists spend time gaining practical experience working side-by-side with a certified pedorthist in both our own and other accredited pedorthic facilities. Once our potential pedorthists have completed all of the pre-certification requirements, they will sit for the board examination. They are tested by the Board for Certification in Pedorthics (BCP) with an intense three-hour exam. Certified pedorthists must earn continuing education points every year in order to maintain their certification. In addition to our in-house staff of Certified Pedorthists, Rocket7 networks with other Doctors of Podiatric Medicine and orther Certified Pedorthists across the country. Cyclist often neglect foot health. The rigors of cycling can amplify many foot problems. By design, cycling distributes an intense amount of pressure focused on the ball of the foot. Revolution after revolution, that pressure can eventually yield “hot-spots”, numb toes or general fore-foot pain. If you are a cyclist with pre-existing foot ailments, this can be made all the worse. Proper arch support, shoe fit and cleat placement are all critical factors in creating a positive cycling experience. Regardless of how expensive and custom tailored your bicycle may be, it’s only as good as your points of contact to the bike: Gloves, Shorts, Seat and Shoes. Take away the proper fit from even one of these elements and you will immediately diminish your performance and comfort. Neglecting your feet can have lasting effects beyond the bike. At Rocket7 we like to use the term “non-partisan” when referring to our capacity to build what you need. We subscribe to the theory that you “get what you need” and that there are no blanket theories as to what a cyclist "needs". With our technical expertise, history in shoe manufacturing, and professional credentials, Rocket7 offers the best solutions for you.
