What are your "fit" needs? Stock, Modified, or Prescription? That's a decision each cyclist must make for themselves based upon three criteria: 1) What size/shape are your feet?, 2) How much can you afford, and 3) Are you simply buying "speed" or are you buying "fit/comfort". Since the same materials and craftsmanship are used between each fit option, it is only the "shape" of the shoe that changes. The more we need to change the shape of a shoe to match your foot, the more the price goes up. For example, if you simply have a wide foot with a flat arch, you would likely be fine ordering a EE width with an "Accomodative" footbed. But if you have a very unique foot (due to an accident for example) or medical condition that must be corrected, you may want to consider our Prescription fit and get professionally casted by a DPM.

STOCK SIZES (AA - EEE Widths)

Rocket7's stock size shoe library was produced from the thousands of custom shoes we’ve since 1999. It offers an extremely wide range of sizes, each representing length, width, and volume. Rocket7 offers stock sizes from 30 - 53 (most with half sizes) and widths from AA – EEE (most sizes). All of Rocket7’s pro athletes have pretty normal shaped feet, and wear stock sizes with accomodative footbeds. For example, Saul Raisin wears a size 44.5AA with a Speedplay base and a custom footbed. Our new stock library is the most efficient way to let you select the style of fit you desire. Why is this important? Our favorite analogy is in reference to buying clothing; you may have a 32” waistline, but you actually prefer the fit of a 34” pant – “why” does not matter- but the fact that it is your choice is what matters. It’s no different in shoes and your final preference to how the shoe fits is what is most important…not our interpretation based on "Fit Theory".

MODIFIED SHOES

Rocket7 also allows you to modify a stock shoe to match your needs. Whether it is a special cleat set-up (like a Speedplay specific base, stack height compensation, canting or fore/aft location of the cleat holes), a custom footbed or custom colors, you have the options to complete the shoes to your taste. Here are the options to choose from:

  • Custom Footbed: This is molded directly into the shoe for optimal performance. The shape of the footbed is determined by a simple casting of the bottom of your foot. The shape is uniquely yours, and is designed to "accomodate" the bottom of your foot and provide superior arch support over standard insoles.
  • Colors and Embroidery: Design your shoes to match your team kit, or your favorite bike! When you order custom colors, you'll also be able to embroider the heel of your shoe with whatever you choose... at no extra cost.
  • Pedal Platform: Since we build your carbon soles by hand, we can build them precisely to your specifications. Extra stiff for track racing? Not a problem. We can also position the cleats wherever you choose (fore/aft), as well as "canting" for those cyclists with biomechanical issues. And for Speedplay(tm) users, we can build your soles with a "4-slot" cleat platform to minimize weight and stack height.

PRESCRIPTION SHOES

It’s rare that we come across a foot that does not fit within our stock-last collection, but when it happens, we have a solution. For those cyclists with the most extreme fit issues, we offer a "Prescription Fit". This fit option begins by having your DPM or CPED make a full-cast of your foot using our proprietary fit system. We then hand-shape your shoe-last and build the carbon sole directly around your mold. Over the years, we've made some pretty "odd shaped" shoes with this method, but for some people, that's the only way they can keep riding. It is important to note that our Prescription shoes are not any "better" than our other shoes. The materials and craftsmanship used to build all of our shoes are identical. It is only the shape of the shoe that changes.
